Bagels and Books -- new book! Why is the Bible so often used as a tool for division and exclusion? And why are so many intelligent and compassionate
people embarrassed to say they find wisdom and comfort in the Bible? In his New York Times bestseller, The Good Book:
Reading the Bible with Mind and Heart, the Rev. Peter Gomes provides answers to these questions and shows us what the
Bible says about topics that concern us all, including joy, suffering, evil and goodness. With compassion, humor and insight,
he gives readers the tools and understanding they need to make the ancient wisdom of the Bible a dynamic part of their modern
lives. Rev. Gomes is pastor of the Memorial Church and professor of theology at Harvard University. Next meeting: Saturday, April 5, at 10:30am. If you’d like to participate, contact Jean Halajian or just come to the meeting. Saturday,
May 17: Spring Clean-up Day Plenty
of projects, mostly outdoors, including cleaning the gutters, washing windows, trimming shrubs, planting annuals, and, for
the more adventurous, some chain-saw work. Sunday,
May 18: Landmark Parishes Choral Evensong for Trinity Sunday The
Rectors and choirs of all four churches will join again to share Choral Evensong. The service will also include a visit from
our Assisting Bishop, the Rt. Rev. E. Don Taylor, who will offer Confirmation and Reception to confirmands. 4 pm at
Trinity Ossining.
Do you sing? The adult choir is seeking
new members. Skill level is not important, just a love of making music and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow choir members.
Rehearsals take place before and after the 10 a.m. service. For more information about our music program click on the "Worship
and Music" link above or speak to our organist and choirmaster, Kinny Landrum. Come help us "make a joyful noise."
Coffee hour hosts needed! We
are in search of some new coffee hour hosts. Some of our long time hosts have chosen to take a break and we need some new
parishioners to fill their shoes. Coffee hour hosts are responsible for providing the snack of their choice plus milk and
apple juice for coffee hour held after the 10 am service. Hosts set-up, serve and clean-up. Most hosts serve 4 to 6 times
a year and many choose to do it with a partner. If you are new to the parish, this is a great way to get to know your fellow
parishioners. If you have any interest in doing this please contact Judy Vecci at the Parish Office 941-6955. Do you have a special anniversary, birthday, or memorial that you would like
to commemorate? Why not say it with flowers? Altar flowers, that is. If
you would like to donate altar flowers to celebrate a special event, a donation of $30 will normally cover your request and
notice of your special occasion will be printed in the bulletin. If you are interested in donating altar flowers, please contact
the office regarding the date. |
